Analysis
Synopsis
Jang Dan Bi is a senior in high school. On the day of her exams, she runs away, unable to withstand the pressure. It is raining outside. Jumping into a puddle, she is then transported to the Joseon era, traveling through times. There, she meets King Lee Do, who encounters some difficulties (drought and epidemic).
My Opinion (No Spoilers)
This mini-drama (only 2 episodes) is an absolute must-see! My only regret is that it is too short. The cast for starters is incredible, Kim Seul Gi playing Jang Dan Bi is hilarious, Yoon Doo Joon has the true aura of a King, and even the supporting characters have now a great career; Jin Ki Joo playing Queen Sohun was the main lead in Come and Hug Me and The Secret Life of My Secretary and Ahn Hyo Seop playing Chaejik landed incredible roles in Romantic Doctor Kim 2, Still 17, Abyss and My Father is Strange.
I truly fell in love with the story: The two timelines adjusted perfectly and the ‘cultural shock’ led to serious laughters. The romance is also very heartwarming (hello yellow umbrella!) and the drama gives off such a feel-good vibe. If you don’t know what to watch on a rainy day and wish to get quickly attached to charming and adorable characters, this drama is the real deal!
To me, it really is a well directed and written drama, transposing a love story at different time periods. Plus, there is a historical bonus for all the fans of Korean history: King Lee Do is actually King Sejeong who created the Korean alphabet (hangeul).
Refreshing, funny, romantic and cute are the kind of words you will want to use after watching this drama!
Dont’ waste any more time!
P.S.: Am I the only one who gets confused between Splash Splash Love with Queen of The Ring? Really, Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Seul Gi play in both and these are mini-dramas. Anyone else?
